HETEROZYGOSITY BY BREED
(Donner et al 2018)
LOOKING FOR DIVERSITY IN YOUR BREED?
Where can you find populations of your breed that might be suitable for outcrossing?
The data for breed heterozygosity can show how much variation there is in your breed. The charts below show the numbers of dogs by country for which there are data in the Donner study. In many cases, there is one country with a large amount of data, and several or many countries with much less. If it looks like there might be significant genetic variation in a breed that is divided into different geographic subpopulations, these charts can indicate the most likely places to look. Remember, this is data for dogs that submitted samples and is not necessarily representative of the entire breed or of subpopulations.
