Which breeds have the highest and lowest heterozygosity?
Anticipating the question most people will ask, here are the breeds with the most and least heterozygosity from Donner et al (2018). This is based only on the data from that study, and there may well be other breeds that should be in one of these groups, or with data for more dogs a breed in one of these groups would no longer appear. But, this is a place to start is you want a broad view of the situation in dogs in general.
The "best" breeds might be good candidates to use for crossbreeding. The "worst" breeds are most in need of genetic rescue.
